Description
- It is a residential neighbourhood originally created as an Olympic Village to house athletes attending the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games. It is now a collective housing area.
- The planning included residential blocks along with recreational and training facilities. The sports centre within the village is widely popular with residents of the city even today.
- 29 residential blocks have been constructed, with 3 reserved for women. The layout consists of residential blocks interspersed with garden spaces. The plan of the blocks is spread-out with max surface area, allowing for the homes to interact with the surrounding greenery.
- The buildings have a brick façade, taking cues from vernacular architecture of the region.
- The residential buildings were mid-rise with 6-10 floors.
- Archaeological remains found during excavation were preserved and displayed in a small museum at the community club during the Games.
