Description
  • It is an Olympic Village constructed to house athletes during the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.
  • It was designed to be compact with ample open space
  • It consists of 4 pyramid-like structures. One of the pyramids was reserved for women. The height of the pyramid tapered from 1 to 19 stories high at the center.
  • The pyramids divided the site into a private athlete park and a more public international area which was open to journalists and select public.
  • They created a landmark in the region through their distinct form and size and formed an identity.
  • Each pyramid was vertically zoned to have accommodation on the upper floors and communal areas such as cafeteria and medical service areas. Despite its compact design, a segregation of public and private areas was created.
