Description
  • It is a collective housing(cohousing) project with 32 homes.
  • The project is one of 100 housing communities built as part of the larger Centraal Wonen (central living) project. The project enables building of communities where residents can live in groups of individual units with access to shared facilities such as community courtyards, laundry kitchen etc.
  • The project was initiated in 1969 with the intention of reducing the labor of housework for women. The shared facilities were intended to foster a more cooperative housing environment.
  • The Centraal Wonen in Deventer follows the same principles with the homes arranged around a community courtyard where residents can freely interact and participate in everyday activities together.
  • Shared community facilities such as shared garden room, fitness room, communal kitchen, living room are available for use by residents.
  • Residents also have ample facilities within their individual units as well. Hence, balance is maintained between private and public realm
  • There is a focus on sustainable living as well. The rooftops have 165 solar panels which generate electricity.
  • There are two shared cars for the community which are digitally connected to a system allowing for car-sharing.
